Are Norfolk’s railways on the right track? Your chance to have your say

People are being urged to have their say on the county’s vision for the future of Norfolk’s railways.

Ambitions for improvements on routes to London and Cambridge, new stations, decarbonisation of the network, and making stations accessible for all, are part of Norfolk’s new rail prospectus that people who live, work and study in Norfolk can now help to shape.

Cllr Graham Plant, Cabinet Member for Highways, Infrastructure and Transport, said: “We need a rail system that’s fit for the future. That’s why we’ve been working to develop a vision for a rail network that can serve the needs and expectations of passengers, continues to support Norfolk’s economy, and helps deliver the housing and jobs growth planned.

“I’m pleased to be able to share this draft vision and I’d urge people to take a look and give us your views as your feedback will help to shape this important document.”

The rail prospectus will be used in the county council’s dealings with the government, and organisations including train companies and Network Rail, to get the best for the people and businesses of Norfolk.

Although the county council does not have any direct say in how the railways are run and invested in, having an up-to-date prospectus in place, that’s aligned with Norfolk’s Local Transport Plan and Better Together for Norfolk strategy, means Norfolk will be well placed to secure improvements for the county. The consultation opens on 9 September and ends on 21 October. Find out more and have your say here: www.norfolk.gov.uk/norfolkrailprospectus
